Public Safety

The Public Safety Department provides all emergency services to the Village of Palm Springs. This includes all Police and Fire-Rescue emergency services. The Department is structured with the Office of the Public Safety Director and three Divisions: the Patrol Division, the Support Services Division and the Fire-Rescue Division. Each Division is supervised by a Commander. The department currently has 40 sworn officers and over 70 fulltime employees.

It is the policy of the Palm Springs Public Safety Department that Community Oriented Policing is an effective way of delivering police services to residents, including suppression of crime and improvement of cooperation between law enforcement and community components.

Furthermore, it is the policy of the Department that, wherever possible, the Community Oriented Policing strategy, along with pro-active, problem oriented tactics, will be employed by the Department in its law enforcement mission. It is the intent of the Palm Springs Public Safety Department to shift available resources from a reactive, incident-driven police patrol system to a pro-active, Problem Oriented/Community Oriented Policing Model, in order to provide the highest possible level of law enforcement services to the Village of Palm Springs.

Please contact Chief Pickens at jpickens@villageofpalmsprings.org if you have any questions or concerns regarding the Public Safety Department.
